Taking the Blogging Plunge
After thinking, ruminating, debating and desperately trying to talk myself out of it, here I am.
I like to start new ventures with some sort of plan – even if only half-baked! If you’re thinking of taking the blogging plunge, certainly you’ll want to get noticed by the search engines – so you’ll get noticed by others.
Here’s what I’m going to do…
1. Obviously, I set up a blog
2. Set up accounts with Sitemeter and Feedblitz
3. Add RSS chicklets
4. Ping the blog engines when I post
5. Set up an opt-in (this might come later, when I have something to offer)
6. And make posts!
It’s tough looking at a blank screen and trying to figure out what to say – so I’ve been making notes on possible topics for several days now.
How do you decide what to talk about?

Congratulations, Peggy! I know you only by name–I’m Lisa’s mom–and I’m as excited for you as she is. I have a blast thinking up things to post about, and I’m sure you will, too. I’m going to put this site into my blog bookmarks right now.
I look forward to reading about what you’re doing. Have a great time!

I decide what to talk about in the same way. I jot down post ideas all the time. Sometimes I pick from that list and other times I write about something that came up during the day…in talking with a colleague or client. Other times I sit and stare at the blank screen until something, anything, comes to me.
You’ll find some days the ideas and the writing flows and other days it doesn’t. But I warn you…it’s addictive, and it won’t be long before you’ll miss it when you don’t post.
Bout freakin’ time.
Welcome.
Enjoy every minute! Reading lots of good idea fodder helps me think of what to write a lot of times. So crack open that feedreader and stuff it full of relevant feeds. Also, talking to other bloggers helps. Finally, keep a master list of post ideas somewhere and work regularyl on pre-scheduled posts. That’ll give you time to do spontaneous posts.
